Abstract

Activity of Combination of Sweet and Eucaliptus Wood Oil as an Antibacteria of Staphylococlus aureus Using Essential Oil Diffuser in Emergency Installation Room, Anwar Medika Sidoarjo Anisa Nur Hidayati Email: [email protected] ABSTACT Air has a relatively large influence and importance in influencing public health, but it can be seen that there are many microbes that can live in the air. Air quality in hospitals is the main thing that affects the health of patients and visitors because almost 90% of activities occur indoors. Microbial contamination is pathogenic is one of the problems faced in human life related to the causes of infectious diseases for humans, especially in hospitals. Cinnamon and Eucalyptus are plants that can be used as antimicrobials, especially in the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. To determine the activity of a combination of cinnamon and eucalyptus oil as an antibacterial for Staphylococcus aureus using Essential Oil Diffuser in the Emergency Installation Room of Anwar Medika General Hospital, Sidoarjo. This research is a descriptive study with a complete randomized design study design and the subjects selected in the study design using Simple Random Sampling technique. Antibacterial activity test using air catching method and continued with several analyzes by calculating the number of colonies, Gram staining, Catalase, and Coagulase. The results obtained showed that the combination of cinnamon and eucalyptus oil had antibacterial activity, as evidenced by the decreasing number of colonies from control until the third day, the Gram staining test all results showed the form of Gram-positive coccus, the Catalase test all results showed bubbles, and the coagulase test showed the results of the average sample (12 of 14 samples) contained clot.
