Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the potential of mahogany leaf extract (Swietenia mahagoni (L.) Jacq) as an active ingredient in face mist formulation. Extraction was carried out using 96% ethanol through a maceration method to obtain the mahogany leaf extract, which was then analyzed for phytochemical content and antibacterial activity. The extraction yielded 16.3%, and phytochemical analysis identified the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and terpenoids. The face mist formulated with mahogany leaf extract was tested for pH, drying time, and spray dispersion, all of which met cosmetic standards. This research also reveals that the face mist with mahogany leaf extract has potential as a safe and effective cosmetic product, with additional benefits from its antibacterial properties. These findings provide a foundation for the development of natural ingredient-based cosmetic products that can effectively enhance skin health. Keywords: mahogany leaf extract, face mist, phytochemistry
