Abstract
Anti repellent preparations of lotion is a preparations which are used to prevent mosquitoes alight on the body such as the skin, hands, feet and neck. A lotion of Citronella essentials oil (Cymbopogon winterianus. J) contains chemical compositions such as citronellal,cintronelol, and geraniol, which are combined with basil (Ocinum bacilicum L.) contain chemicals such as linalool and eugenol. The purpose of this research were to find out ability of the preparations formulate citronella lotion (Cymbopogon winterianus. J) against Aedes aegypti and determine the protection formulas of lotion. Citronella essentials oil and basil in this research were used as active ingredients in preparations of anti repellent lotion or repellent mosquitoes with comparisson concentrations, formula 1 (Citronella 10% : Basil 5%), formula 2 (Citronella 7,5% : Basil 7,5%) dan formula 3 (Citronella 5% : Basil 10%). Then, testing the effectiveness of anti repellent against Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. The effectiveness results of the anti repellent test showed that citronella and basil which were applied as a lotion at three concentrate could avoid the aedes aegypti mosquitoe well, but the most efficient formula was formula 1 with concentration 10%:5% of citronella and basil which generate 93.2% protection power. The physical evaluation results of preparations lotion indicates that the lotion which obtained milky white with distinct aroma of Citronella essential oil in formula 1, meanwhile in preparations of lotion formula 2 and 3 changes during storage, caused by preparations lotion in formula 2 and 3 unstable when storing. The results of the spread test, the adhesion and homogeneity test of lotion availability fulfill the range of tropical lotion in each formula. The hedonic test yresults show that each formula such as color, aroma, texture, unsticky taste and washed easly by water can be received by respondents well, but for the availability of smell only in formula 1 which is preferred by respondents with a value of 33.30%.
