Abstract
POTENTIAL NANOEMULY OF ARTIFICIAL OIL (Alpinia galanga [L.] Willd.) IN ERRADING THE PROCESS OF MATURATION OF BIOFILM OF Escherichia coli BACTERIA PRODUCING Spectrum Extended ß-Lactamase (ESBLs) Merinsa Chorry Hartono Email : [email protected] Abstract The increasing of bacterial resistance to antibiotics is a major threat to the world's population that causes a recurrence of infectious diseases, so research is conducted on the use of galangal oil (Alpinia galanga [L]. Willd.) And in the form of nanoemulsion to be used as new therapies for patients infected with Escherichia coli bacteria ESBLs producing that has formed biofilms. This study intends to examine the potential of nanoemulsion from galangal oil (Alpinia galanga [L.] Willd.) In degrading the process of Escherichia coli bacterial biofilm maturation producing Extended Spectrum β-Lactamase (ESBLs). This research was carried out by making a bacterial curve measured by UVvis spectrophotometer and making a biofilm curve with a Microplate reader, then characterizing galangal oil with GCMS, containing nanoemulsion with a sonicator and measuring its size with PSA. The nanoemulsion was used to test antibiofilm activity in isolates of Escherichia coli bacteria producing ESBLs using Microplate reader. The results showed the ability of galangal oil to degrade Escherichia coli biofilm producing Extended Spectrum β-Lactamase (ESBLs) with the most effective concentration of 90 mg/dl, meaning that the higher the concentration of galangal oil nanoemulsion, the higher the biofilm degradation process from Escherichia coli producing ESBLs. ANOVA test results showed a p-value of 0.0378 which means that there is an effect of differences in the concentration of galangal oil (Alpinia galanga [L.] Willd.) In degrading Escherichia coli-producing biofilms of ESBLs. This is stated as a result. Galangal oil is proven to have the ability to degrade biofilms with a concentration of 90 mg/dl with an average percentage of 86.13%.
